No, nobody can be banned.

He/She didn't break any rules.

I'm not incredibly up to speed with UWSC, so since the OP wasn't abundantly clear I am going to assume the entire group paid on guy 1k each for him to provide a conset. Upon payment he then ditched the group with the other players money.

How is this not a scam? He obviously intentionally mislead players to believe he was going to provide a service, which they paid for. He then failed to perform said service, and made no offer to refund the payment he received.

If I am incorrect in any assumptions then do not hesitate to point them out, but this sounds pretty reportable to me.

I'd agree with above poster.

Screenshot and report to Anet. May not do anything, but at least you will have tried.

Do you have screenshots of him saying he would use a conset if u all paid him and then a shot of him leaving the group without using a conset, if so i would have to agree with Revelations, the guy offered a service for payment and then left the group without offering a refund, which is afaik reportable.

Anet barely have enough time to get updates out nevermind deal with "scammers"
sorry but scamming is a bit of a shady topic when it comes to banning since it isnt against the EULA its simply just.... taking peoples stuff that they willingly offered in the eyes of the game but I agree it is a very sad thing especially when i try to do something honestly when there may be a slight risk but people dont do it coz they r too worried about scammers :/... what you should do is make him go in and then pay for the cons.... obviously he would be hesitant to do this if he was a scammer so this is just a psychological trick !

As far as I know, it's a highly ban-able offense. He mislead and stole, without refunds. I hate when they do that D:<

Because the same people that handle support are responsible for updates, amirite? And as to the EULA not containing anything against scamming, I'm not going to bother rereading it for quotes or details, but this is just plain wrong. The question is not "is scamming in violation of the EULA," but rather "is this actually a scam?"

That screenshot is definitely somewhat incriminating. If you do report, then in light of the circumstances I would imagine that your use of language may not be punished. I am not however Anet support, so this is simply speculation. I can say with confidence that reporting this guy will very likely result in a temporary ban of his account, especially considering the fact that it appears not to be an isolated incident for him.

makes you really wonder about someone who scams for 7k.... (they have some serious issues)

Think we need to start recognizing these scammers (somewhere) and get their names out there and show them what a community can do.

ok yes to Revelations ofcourse this is a scam.... its blatent my comment was simply saying that Anet have a bad track record of taking the ban stick out on scammers.... and what i meant with the updates was that most of the team's resources are focused on Gw2 the report list will be looked at but not enough to guarantee every person on the list found to be using illegitimate tactics and using obscene language will be banned

IIRC when you "carebear stare" and type /report, there is a scamming option. So yes it is a reportable offense. Send the screenshot in without the names blocked out and Anet will handle it in time. You won't know about it, but he will probably get a temp ban. Contact everyone else that was in your group and request them to do the same, email them the screenshot if you want. This way everyone who was scammed can report the offense and maybe the punishment will be a longer temp ban, or an outright perma ban.

Sorry this happened to you, this is why I do not hire runners and no longer run. Running has a bad rep to it and you either get a runner who scams you, or, as a legit runner, you get no pays.

I'd rather farm. More money, faster. Good Luck!

Personally I say stop banning people and instead add permanent, unremovable conditions to their character. So if a runner scams, he gets permanent cripple. If a pvper leaves a match, he gets permanent weakness.

(not really well thought out, but you get the idea and how frustrating that would be to an offender. You can play if you want, but lol if you do.) Or start cleaning titles. Oh you scammed! ( Reset skill cap title to zero) now you cant get the title again on that character.)

Or give the players, account wide permanent titles like (I's pro scammer) ( I's Pro Leecher) (I's Pro Quitter).. Something jacked up like that instead of a nice little vacation (temp ban).

He scammed you, you probably COULD have reported him, but since you said "hey twat" rather then keeping it cool and saying "hey man" and then annoy him a little bit by being nice, to get a better reaction from him worth reporting and pwning him, he has more evidence against you now so it's not worth reporting anymore. You got scammed for 1k, you can farm that back in less than 30-60mins. I know it sucks to be scammed, but hey it happens and there not much you can do now.

LOL, I got scammed once for 250g. How pitiful is that?? Scammer organized a group of 4 trappers for UW and demanded 250g each for the entrance fee. As soon as we zoned in, he aggroed all the Aatxes on us. We died, he lived. He said we should just zone out because he wasn't gonna rez us. He had a solo build but didn't feel like paying the entrance fee. Now that is a first class loser.

Only time I've been scammed successfully. I didn't report. It wasn't worth it.

Mastar, for your case you could definitely report thru the site and it's almost guaranteed he'd be banned since he admits that he's scamming in the conversation. I've done that before and gotten an e-mail confirmation back from support that they were banned. It's just whether it's worth your time or not to report.

Its like scaming someone for a run. exsample you pay 2k for a run to droks and he takes the money before runing you and leaves.
